Teaching and Loving Children

What is Teaching and Loving Children?

TLC volunteers spend time as aides, helping local preschoolers and teachers in the classroom. If you're looking for a chance to serve in a fun way with flexibility, this is a great option for you!

We are currently volunteering with Sunrise Preschool, one of the easier off-campus volunteer locations to get to. It's close enough to walk or bike to if you don't have a car. Volunteers are needed during school hours (Monday to Thursday) and are free to choose the times that best fit their schedule.

Volunteer Commitment: One hour a week.

How do I get involved?

Contact the program directors directly or e-mail the program at tlc@byu.edu to get involved.

Please complete this mandatory 20 minute child protection training before you begin working with the children.

Experiences

I loved volunteering at the pre-school with the learning activities. The first day I went, we helped the kids start recognizing and replicating picture patterns. I don’t know that they cared much about the patterns but it was fun to see how excited they were about the different kinds of cars. Also listening to 4 year olds say "helicopter" is adorable.
